May Fire/Rescue Incidents:
May 26, 2010 -- 2 Engines to Chesapeake City for a House Fire
At 0247 hours CVFC was alerted for an Engine to assist Sta. 2 & 12 Chesapeake City on a working house fire. Engine 114, with a crew of 6, arrived just behind Engine 12 and pulled an 1 3/4" and made both crews gained access to the interior through a door on the Charlie side. Crews began fire suppression and ventilating the residence. Engine 116 arrived shortly after and was sent to the roof for ventilation efforts. The crews were able to knock down the fire and contain it to the kitchen and living room area. Cecilton's crews remained on scene to assist with salvage and overhaul. All units were back in station by 0445 hours.

May 23, 2010 -- Working House/Trailer Fire
Just before 2100 hours CVFC, along with Tanker 9 and KC Engine 3, was dispatched for a working house/trailer fire in the Elk View Shores Community. Assistant 1, Jason S. Reamy, arrived on location to find an approximately 12' X 50' trailer fully involved with exposure to two additional trailers. Rescue 1 arrived first and pulled two 1 3/4" lines to begin fire suppression. Tanker 1 and Engine 114 arrived shortly there after with Tanker 1 supplying Rescue 1 and Engine 114's crew assisting with suppression efforts. Tanker 9 arrived and supplied Engine 114 and KC Engine 3 staged its unit away from the scene and sent its manpower in to assist. Crews quickly knocked down the fire and checked both exposures for extension. The Fire Marshal's Office responded in to the scene to conduct the investigation. Ambulance 191 handled rehab and Engine 116 was on scene but left available. Thanks to Chesapeake City and Vol. Hose of Middletown for transferring an engine each into Station 1.

May 22, 2010 -- Several Minor Calls
Since the house fire in Hacks Point there have only been a couple minor calls. The engine and tanker were called to Galena for a reported working barn fire. Command 3 arrived and held it to Galena units only with a controlled burn. Two boat calls consisting of an assist to Chesapeake City and a fuel spill in the marnina at The Granary.

May 13, 2010 -- Back To The Same House
At 0525 hours CVFC was alerted for the Rescue to assist Hacks Point on a working House Fire. Rescue 1, with 8, responded and began assisting with fire suppression. The crew was beginning to make progress when there was a shortage in water supply and the crews were pulled from the interior. Engine 114, with 4, responded a short time later and assisted with operations. Cecilton units remained on scene until 0900 hours. At approximately 2000 hours the Rescue was again requested to the scene due another fire in the residence. Rescue assisted until being cleared at 2200 hours.

April Fire/Rescue Incidents:
April 5, 2010 -- Mini-van vs Tree
At 0334 hours CVFC, along with CC Paramedic 3, was alerted for a MVC on Rt 213 n/o Bohemia Church Road. Rescue 1, under FF Ernie Beck, and Ambulance 192 arrived to find a single vehicle into a tree with one juvenile patient still in the vehicle. Rescue 1's crew paced the spreaders into service and popped the driver's side sliding door to make access to the patient. The juvenile patient was transported to Shock Trauma by MSP Trooper 6 and the operator of the vehicle refused treatment at the scene. The operator was found to have fallen asleep and failed to negotiate a turn. All units were clear the scene around 0430 hours.

April 4, 2010 -- Rescue/Engine run on Working House Fire
Just before 2300 hours CVFC was alerted to assist Sta. 9 Hacks Point on a reported working house fire. Assistant 9 was the first to arrive and advised of fire showing in all directions. Rescue 1 w/8, under Capt. Scott Boulden, and Engine 114 w/6, under FF Chris Organek, made the response to the scene. Cecilton's units were the 2nd and 3rd pieces to arrive. Rescue 1 pulled in and pulled two 1 3/4" lines and began suppression on the Alpha side and protecting exposures on the Bravo side. Engine 114 supplied Rescue 1 and the crew assisted with fire suppression. Once the bulk of the fire was knocked down crews moved to the interior to extinguish the remaining hot spots. Units assisted on scene until being released at approximately 0100 hours.

March Fire/Rescue Incidents:
March 21, 2010 -- Dirtbike Accident
At 1819 hours CVFC, along with CC Paramedic 3, was alerted for a MVC at 65 Knights Island Rd. While enroute units were advised that it involved a dirtbike. Deputy 1, T. Jay Bolton, arrived first and found one patient suffering from injuring that occurred when he fell off of his dirtbike. Due to the location of the patient, Rescue 1 and Engine 116 were staged on the hardtop. Ambulance 191 was able to make it to the rear of the farm and upon packaging the patient transported him to Christiana Hospital. Ambulance 192 also made the response but was cancelled due to only having one patient. All units cleared the scene by 1905 hours.

March 17, 2010 -- Kitchen Fire
At 1230 hours CVFC, along with an engine from Galena and tower from Middletown, was alerted for a house fire within the town limits of Cecilton. Chief 1, Robert Dixon Jr., was the first to arrive and find the house full of smoke. Rescue 1 arrived first and upon ventilating the residence from the fire had extinguished itself. Crews from Engine 114 and Kent Cty Engine 3 assisted with pulling the ceiling and walls around the stove to check for any extension. The FM responded into the scene to take over the investigation. It was determined that a grease fire was the cause of the small fire. All units were cleared the scene by 1330 hours.

March 2, 2010 -- Automobile Fire
At 2301 hours CVFC was alerted for a automobile farm at the Mushroom Farm on Worsell Manor Rd, Warwick. Chief 1, Robert Dixon Jr., was the first to arrive and advised of a Ford Mustang fully involved. Rescue 1, under Captain Scott Boulden, and Engine 116, under Dep. Chief T. Jay Bolton, responded in to the scene. Rescue 1 arrived first and pulled the auto line from the front bumper and began extinguishing the fire. Engine 116 staged behind Rescue 1 and sent its crew to assist. All units were cleared the scene at approximately 2330 hours with Chief 1 remaining until the arrival of the Fire Marshall.

January Fire/Rescue Incidents:
January 7, 2010 -- MVC w/ Rollover
At 1049 hours CVFC and Cecil County Paramedic 3 were alerted for a motor vehicle collision involving rollover. Chief 1, Robert Dixon Jr., was the first to arrive with a single vehicle rollover. The occupant of the vehicle had self extricated himself and was dening any injuries. Rescue 1, Engine 116 and Ambulance 191 made the response to the scene. Rescue 1's crew secured the vehicle while CC Paramedic 3 handled one patient refusal. Units remained on scene to handle traffic control until the arrival of MSP. The scene was turned over and all units were cleared by 1120 hours.

January 5, 2010 -- Working House Fire in Hacks Point
At 2136 hours CVFC was alerted for a Rescue to assist Hacks Point on a working House Fire. Assistant 9 was driving along Glebe Road when he observed fire coming from the rear of a residence. Rescue 1, under Chief Dixon, made the response to the scene. With a crew in station Tanker 1 was added to the box and responded to the scene to assist with water supply. Engine 114 also responded and upon arriving at the scene was redirected to stage at Station 9. Rescue 1's crew assisted with salvage and overhaul efforts. Engine 114 was later brought to the scene for manpower. All Cecilton units were cleared by 2242 hours.

January 3, 2010 -- Engine goes to Middletown
At 0528 hours CVFC was alerted for an Engine to assist Vol. Hose Co. of Middletown with a working House Fire. Middletown had numerous units already assisting on an incident in the Townsend area. Engine 116 and Tanker 1 were responding to the scene when Tanker 1 was recalled. Engine 116 was on scene for approximately 15 minutes before redirecting into Sta 27 Middletown. The house was vacant and set to be used for a control burn so Command made the decision to let the structure burn. Engine 116 cleared at 0700 hours.

December Fire/Rescue Incidents:
December 15, 2009 -- Person Jumping from a Vehicle
At 1600 hours CVFC, along w/ Cecil County Paramedic 3, was alerted to the area of S. Bohemia Ave for a person who jumped from a moving vehicle. Units arrived to find a middle age female had jumped from a vehicle after a heated argument with her mother. The vehicle was found to be traveling around 35mph at the time. The patient was packaged and transported to Baltimore Shock Trauma by MSP Trooper 1. All units were clear the scene by 1709 hours.

December 3, 2009 -- 2009 Election Results
The elections were held at this evenings company meeting. Robert Dixon, Jr and Wendi Pardee were reelected to their positions of Chief and Chief Engineer and Sarah Reynolds was elected into the positon of EMS Chief. Administrative positions were as follows: T. Jay Bolton -- President, Clay Weisenberg -- V. President, Leta O'Neal -- Secretary, Christy Biggs -- Treasurer and Dede Pardee -- Membership Secretary. The four new Board of Directors were Rev. Joseph Burris, William Bailey, Robert Dixon Jr and Michael Cooper. Congrats to all on their election into office.

December 1, 2009 -- Annual Elections
The elections are coming up this thursday. Make sure your dues are paid up to date with Dede and if you are running or planning on running for any position, you need to turn the necessary paperwork in to Matt Cristiano ASAP.

November Fire/Rescue Incidents:
November 29, 2009 -- Third Call of the Day is Working
At about 1900 hours, Cecilton VFC, along with a Ladder from the Vol Hose of Middletown and an Engine & Tanker from the Galena VFC, was alerted for a Building Fire on George Street in the area of The Granary Restaurant. Chief 1, Robert Dixon Jr, was the first to arrive and advise of a working alarm. Chief 1 found a 10' by 20' shed involved with exposure to several other structures. KC Engine 3 was the first to arrive and laid in to the scene. Engine 114 arrived next and laid a line down a side road to the boat ramp. Crews from KC E-3 and 114 pulled two handlines off E-3 and began fire suppression. Tanker 3 and Rescue 1 arrived next with Tanker 3 setting up the relay. R-1's crew assisted with suppression and overhaul. Tanker 1 staged and Ambulance 192 setup rehab operations. New Castle Rescue 1 was transferred into Station 1. The box was placed under control at 1917 hours and all units were clear by 2057 hours.

November 25, 2009 -- House Fire w/ Rescue
At about 0450 hours, Cecilton VFC, along with a Ladder & Rescue from the Vol Hose of Middletown and an Engine & Tanker from the Galena VFC, was alerted for a House Fire with rescue. Reports were received of a working alarm with a mother and child still in the residence. Assistant Chief 1-2 Brandon Dixon was the first to arrive. Upon arrival Dixon reported a 2-story residence with nothing evident. Dixon arrived to find the Sheriff's Office on scene dealing with a domestic dispute. During the dispute the homeowner inadvertently hit the panic alarm requesting the fire department. Ambulance 191 responded to the scene to handle a medical situation and Dixon held all fire apparatus in quarters.

November 15, 2009 -- MVC involving a motorcycle
While units were out training with the new tanker, Cecilton VFC was alerted for a MVC involving a motorcycle. Rescue 1, under Rescue Captain John Dixon, was the first unit to arrive and found a single motorcycle off the roadway with one patient. Ambulance 191, 192 and Cecil County Paramedic 3 responded into the scene to handle one patient. Ambulance 192 handled the transport to the local hospital. Rescue 1 remained on scene assisting with traffic control until the motorcycle could be removed.

November 3, 2009 -- Rescue Assist to Hacks Point
At about 0930, Cecilton VFC was alerted to assist Sta. 9 Hacks Point on an MVC w/Rescue. Sta 9 units were on scene with a single vehicle vs a tree with one patient trapped. Rescue 1, under Deputy 1 T. Jay Bolton, arrived and began assisting with removing the doors and roof. After several minutes the crew was able to free the operator and load him into the waiting MSP Aviation unit. Rescue 1 was placed back into service around 1030 hours.

November 2, 2009 -- Tanker Assist on a working Structure Fire
Just after 0700 hours, CVFC was alerted for a tanker to assist on a working structure fire in KC Sta. 6 Chestertown's first due. Tanker 1 was picked up on a second alarm tanker task force. Tanker 1 and Engine 116 responded to the scene where Tanker 1 was placed into staging. The crew from Engine 116 was sent to the interior of the structure to assist with fire suppression. The crew remained on scene assisting with salvage and overhaul until after 1000 hours.

October Fire/Rescue Incidents:
October 25, 2009 -- Very Slow Month
It has been a very slow month around Cecilton this month. No new incidents to report. The new Tanker 1 is in station and has been lettered. Watch for it to be placed into service soon.

October 5, 2009 -- Engine Assist
At 0839 CVFC was alerted for an Engine to assist Sta. 2 & 12 with a house fire. Chief 2 was the first to arrive with smoke showing. Engine 114, under Safety Officer 1 Joseph Burris, responded with four. The first engine was able to control the small fire and the crew from Engine 114 assisted with salvage and overhaul. October 3, 2009 -- 4th Annual Softball Tournament
After a little juggling of the date we finally were able to have this year's tournament. The rain held off and we had a great day to play. The Championship Game came down to Chesapeake City and Delaware City. Chesapeake made it to the finals undefeated and Delaware City came in after having to play 5 straight games in the loser's bracket. After a hard fought game, Chesapeake City came out on top with the victory. Chesapeake City's SS Ryan Ferguson was presented with the Thomas G. O'Neal Sr MVP tropy for his play during the tournament. Thanks again to everyone who made it down for the day.

September Fire/Rescue Incidents:
September 27, 2009 -- Engine and Tanker Assist
At 0330 hours CVFC was alerted to assist Sta. 2 and 12 on a barn fire. Engine 114, Rescue 1 and Tanker 1 all made the response and assisted for several hours with fire suppression. The crews assisted with salvage and overhaul and were clear the scene around 0700 hours. An engine was requested back to the scene at about 0830 hours to assist with several flare ups.

September 24, 2009 -- MVC Vehicle vs. Tree
At about 1920 hours CVFC, along with Cecil County Paramedic 3, was alerted for an MVC along Stemmers Run Rd. Assistant 1, Jason S. Reamy, was the first to arrive and found a single vehicle vs. a tree. Rescue 1 arrived and handled securing the vehicle. CC Paramedic 3 was placed into service when Ambulance 191 transported one patient to Christiana Hospital. Rescue 1, Brush 1 and several fire police units remained on scene until County Roads could respond and remove the fallen tree from the roadway. All units were cleared by 2030 hours.

September 14, 2009 -- Slow and Steady
It has been pretty slow on the fire/rescue side. The upcoming events will be the truck pull on the 26th, softball tournament oct. 3rd and the beginning of the 24-hour class is right around the corner. Keep an eye on the white board for additional training dates to come.

August Fire/Rescue Incidents:
August 14, 2009 -- Back to Back MVC's
Right around 2200 hours as the Grand Finale began at the carnival grounds CVFC, along with CC Paramedic 3, was alerted for a MVC along Rt 213 just north of Georgetown. Rescue 1 and Ambulance 191 went enroute immediately. Rescue 1, under Chief 1 Robert Dixon, was the first to arrive and advise of 2 vehicles, head-on with one subject trapped in each vehicle. Command was established and a request was made for a second ambulance, aviation and a Rescue out of Galena. The crew began stablizing the vehicle and started extrication. The roof was first to be removed along with several doors. At this time two rams were placed into service to attempt to raise the dashboard and steering wheel off of the occupants lower body. KC Rescue Pumper 3 arrived and began extricating the occupant of the second vehicle. KC RP3 removed their patient and he was transported to Christiana Hospital by Ambulance 192. The crew then assisted with the continuing efforts to free the occupant of the other vehicle. Once extrication was complete the patient was transported to Baltimore Shock Trauma by MSP Trooper 6. Rescue 1 remained on scene to provide lighting while MSP conducted a reconstruction. Just prior to clearing the scene, CVFC was alerted for a fuel spill along Cecilton Warwick Rd just prior to Warwick. Engine 116 made the response and upon arriving found a single vehicle off the roadway. The vehicle struck a Choptank Power Pole and rolled completely over once. The operator of the vehicle was found to have fled the scene. The crew secured the vehicle and turned the scene over to MSP upon their arrival. Along units were back in station just after 0000 hours.

August 3, 2009 -- MVC vehicle overturned
Right around 0800 hours CVFC, along with CC Paramedic 3, was alerted for a MVC along Sandy Bottom Road. KC Rescue Pumper 3 was added to the box due to an equipment problem with Rescue 1. Deputy 1 T. Jay Bolton was the first to arrive with a single vehicle off the roadway overturned. The operator lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway overturning and striking a Delmarva Power Pole. Rescue 1 and Rescue Pumper 3 arrived and secured the vehicle while Ambulance 192 began patient care. Ambulance 192 transported one patient to Christiana Hospital while Rescue 1 remained on scene until the power company arrived.
