June Fire/Rescue Incidents:
June 20, 2009 -- MVC w/ Rescue
Around 1130 hours CVFC, along with CC Paramedic 3, was alerted for a MVC with Rescue on Pond NEck Road. Reports were given of a single vehicle off the roadway into a creek. Rescue 1, under Chief 1 Robert Dixon Jr, was the first to arrive with a single vehicle off the roadway with no rescue. Ambulance 192 and CC Paramedic 3 arrived next and transported one patient to Christiana Hospital. Rescue 1's crew secured the vehicle and assisted with patient care. Rescue 1 remained on scene for little more than an hour due to a broken utility pole.

May 31, 2009 -- MVC w/ Rescue
After 2100 hours, units had just returned to station from a controlled burn in Town Limits when CVFC, along with CC Paramedic 3, was alerted for a MVC with possible rescue. Rescue 1, Engine 114 and Ambulances 191 & 192 made an immediate response. Engine 114, under Chief 1 Robert Dixon Jr., was the first to arrive with a vehicle vs several parked cars. Chief 1 had command an advised of 1 patient refusal and 1 trapped. Crews from Rescue 1 and Engine 114 stablized the vehicle and removed the roof and door to make access to an obses patient. Extrication was complete and 1 was transported to Union Hospital. It was found that the operator failed to negotiate a turn and drove through a ditch and struck two parked cars in the parking lot of The Archway Inn. Rescue 9 also responded and assisted with on scene operations.

May 31, 2009 -- Training Day
At 0730 hours Engine 114 and Tanker 1 traveled to Galena to assist with a controlled burn. The house was not sturdy enough for live fire evolutions but drivers practiced with the pumps and younger members got to man the hoselines. (pictures at www.galenavfc.org) Later that evening around 1830 hours Engine 114, Rescue 1 and Tanker 1 were joined by members of Galena and Hacks Point for a controlled burn in the Town Limits of Cecilton. Crews particapated in nearly 15 evolutions and practiced ventilation and advancing hoselines. Thanks to all the members who attended. The Chief would also like to thank Hacks Point and Galena for sending apparatus and manpower to assist in the controlled burn.
May 27, 2009 -- Life Member Passes Away
It is with great sadness that the CVFC announces the passing of one of its life members. Mr. Ted Ford was a 62 year member who served in numerous offices on both the fire and administrative sides. Over the past few years Mr. Ted still attempted to attend company meetings and would pop up on the scene of an MVC in town to assist with traffic control. Funeral services will be held in Galena on Thursday, May 28th. Contact Chief 1 for more information.

There have been no major incidents to report of lately. Brush Fire, Golf Cart Accident, a couple engine assists and boat calls.
May 09, 2009 -- Single Vehicle MVC
Around 2300 hours CVFC, along with CC Paramedic 3, was alerted for an MVC at the end of Middle Neck Road outside of Warwick. Rescue 1, Ambulance 191 and Paramedic 3 arrived to find a single vehicle on its side with no rescue. The operator left the vehicle and was located at a nearby residence. Rescue 1's crew secured the vehicle and Ambulance 191 transported one patient. Chief 1, Robert Dixon Jr., had Middle Neck Command and all units were clear the scene by 2345 hours.
May 5, 2009 -- Ambulance Assist
Just after 0800 hours CVFC was alerted for an ambulance to assist Sta. 9 Hacks Point on an MVC with rescue. The 905 box is a dual dispatch for a Rescue from Hacks Point and Cecilton. Due to an error by a dispatcher, Sta. 2 & 12 Chesapeake City was hit for the rescue and Cecilton for an ambulance. Units arrived to find a vehicle with one person trapped and a dump truck on its side. The crew of A192 assisted with patient care and was released from the scene.
April Fire/Rescue Incidents:
April 28, 2009 -- Building Fire
Around 1145 hours CVFC along with NCC Sta. 26 for a tanker and NCC Sta. 27 for a ladder and engine were alerted for a building fire. The first report given was a vehicle into a building with fire. Lt. 1 Ernie Beck was the first to arrive and advised of a 10' by 12' shed fully involved and nearly on the ground with extension to a landscaping trailer. The box was held to Engine 114 and Engine 27-5. Units arrived and extinguished the fire and took care of several hot spots in the yard. All units were cleared the scene by 1204 hours.
April 22, 2009 -- Live-Burn Training
Engine 114 and Chief's Vehicle 133 traveled to Sta. 27 Middletown's area to participate in some live burn training. 12 members were able to attend the training and were put through numerous evolutions. Members advanced hoselines on 1st and 2nd floor fires. The Officers would like to thank Middletown for including us on this training oppurtunity.
April 17, 2009 -- LODD -- QA Sta. 6 Sudlersville
The Officers and Members of the Cecilton Vol. Fire Co. would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Chief Charles (Buck) Clough Jr. and to the members of Sudlersville VFC. Buck was responding to an alarm at approximately 7:45 PM on April 15th when he was involved in a single vehicle collision. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
April 17, 2009 -- MVC in Town Limits
Just before 0900 hours CVFC, along with CC Paramedic 3, was alerted for an MVC within Town Limits. Deputy Chief T. Jay Bolton was the first to arrive with two vehicles involved. Engine 116 arrived and was assigned to secure both vehicles. Upon completion the crew assisted Ambulance 192 with patient care and handled traffic control. Ambulance 192 handled one BLS patient that was transported to Chester River Hospital. Brush 1 arrived and handled traffic control so the Engine could clear. All units were cleared the scene by 0945 hours.

April 04, 2009 -- 2008 Awards Banquet
CVFC held its annual awards banquet tonight in the Banquet Hall. Congrats to all the award recipients for top responders and training recognition. 2008's President's Award went to Kim Dixon and the Chief's Award was given to Dave Kelly. We would like to thank Sta 2 & 12 Chesapeake City for standing by during this event. A special thanks to Mayor John Bunnell and the Town of Cecilton for their donation to the fire company of $10,000.

March 26, 2009 -- Slow couple of weeks...
It has been a slow couple of weeks for CVFC's Fire/Rescue. A couple of transfers, manpower assists and an MVC. The spaghetti dinner is this Saturday, March 28th. Contact Matt Cristiano if you are going to be able to help with the event. Matt needs a few more people for the afternoon shift.
March 18, 2009 -- Control Burn
During the evening members took 2 engines and a tanker into the 104 Box for a control burn. The homeowners had an old house/trailer that was donated to be used. Units operated on scene for approximately 2 hours.

March 9, 2009 -- Engine Assist to Chesapeake City
Just before 0700 hours CVFC was alerted for an Engine to assist Sta. 2 & 12 on a working house fire. Engine 116, under Lt. Ernie Beck, made the response with 5 and was directed to establish a draft site. Due to a lack of apparatus responding Engine 114, under Chief Robert Dixon, was put on the street with a crew of 4. Engine 114 passed by the draft site and picked up two crew members to respond into the scene. Once on scene the crew was directed to division 2 to assist with salvage and overhaul. March 5, 2009 -- Newly Appointed Junior Officers
Chief Dixon has appointed two new junior officers for the 2009 year. Brandon Dixon will be Captain 1-2 and Ernie Beck will be Lieutenant 1.
March 4, 2009 -- House/Trailer Fire
Just after 0100 hours CVFC was alerted along with Tanker 9 and KC Engine 3 for a house/trailer fire in the Crystal Beach Community. Chief 1 Robert Dixon, Jr. was the first to arrive and advised of a working alarm. Engine 114, under Lt. Ernie Beck, was the first unit to arrive and pulled two 1 3/4" lines to make entry on the Bravo side. Rescue 1 arrived and pulled an 1 3/4" line to begin suppression efforts on the Delta side. KC Engine 3 suppliedf Rescue 1 and their crew assisted with suppression. Crews were able to contain the bulk of the fire to the front bedroom. Tanker 9 and KC Tanker 3 arrived set up a water supply for Engine 114. Chesapeake City and Middletown transferred 1 engine each into Station 1. FM-44 and his cohert responded to the scene for the investigation. Ambulance 191 and CC Paramedic 3 handled thre re-hab. The box was placed under control and all units were cleared by 0400 hours. The fire did claim the life of the family's pet dog.

With the upcoming storm bearing down on us several members have already shown interest in manning the station. Please contact Chief 1 if you are available and willing to staff an engine or ambulance.
On March 7th Singlery Fire Company will be hosting an Interior Fire Attack class. Chief Frank Lewis has invited Cecilton to participate, so if you are interested contact Chief 1 or Assistant 1-2 ASAP so we can get a final count. Ray Ryan will be teaching the class and even though we will be participating in evolutions there will be no live burns.

February 16, 2009 -- Proud New Daddy
The Officers and Members of CVFC would like to congratulate Capt. Scott Boulden and his fiancee Shane on the birth of their first child. Hailey Elaine Boulden was born Feb 14th 2128 hours @ Union Hospital. Hailey was 5lb 10ozs and was 18 3/4" long. Hailey and Mom are doing good and the proud daddy managed to sneak away to make a brush fire around 1700 hours on 2/16/09.
February 12 & 13, 2009 -- Two Runs to Galena
On Feb. 12 at approximately 1515 hours CVFC was alerted for an Engine to assist KC Sta. 3 Galena on a automobile fire with extension to a residence. Engine 116, under Capt. Scott Boulden, made the response and staged at the scene while Galena units were working. Engine 116 was held and placed available for Galena's first due. On Feb 13 at approximately 1900 hours CVFC was alerted for Engine 116 to assist Galena with a chimney fire. Engine 116, under Assistant 1-2 Jason S. Reamy, responded with 5 and was sent to the roof to help with extinguishment and checking for extension. Ambulance 191 was requested and responded to the scene BLS which allowed the Kent County Paramedic unit to clear. All CVFC units were cleared the scene by 2030 hours. February 10, 2009 -- Single Vehicle MVC
Just before midnight CVFC, along with Cecil County Paramedic 3, was alerted for a single vehicle MVC on Rt 301 in the area of the scale house. Assistant Chief 1-2 and Ambulance 192 arrived on Sassafras Road east of Edgar Price Road to find a single vehicle overturned with ejection. Rescue 1, under Capt. Scott Boulden, arrived and lit the scene. The crew secured the vehicle and assisted with patient care. Ambulance 191 and Utility 131 arrived and assisted with patient care. Ambulance 192 transported one patient to Christiana. The box was placed under control with all units clearing the scene by 0020 hours.
February 4, 2009 -- MVC reported Head-On
At about 2215 hours CVFC, along with Cecil County Paramedic 3, was alerted for a reported head-on collision on Crystal Beach Road. Assistant 1-2 and EMS Chief 1 were the first to arrive and found two vehicles involved with one patient. The operator of the second vehicle had fled the scene prior to our arrival. Ambulance 192 handled one transport to Union Hospital. Rescue 1, under Capt. Scott Boulden, arrived and secured both vehicles. Ambulance 191 responded to the scene and staged. The box was placed under control and all units were cleared the scene by 2300 hours.

Just before 1530 hours CVFC, along with Cecil County Paramedic 3, was alerted for an MVC on Bohemia Church Road. Rescue 1, under Capt. The box was placed under control with CVFC units with all clearing the scene just after 1600 hours.

February 4, 2009 -- MVC reported Head-On
At about 2215 hours CVFC, along with Cecil County Paramedic 3, was alerted for a reported head-on collision on Crystal Beach Road. Assistant 1-2 and EMS Chief 1 were the first to arrive and found two vehicles involved with one patient. The operator of the second vehicle had fled the scene prior to our arrival. Ambulance 192 handled one transport to Union Hospital. Rescue 1, under Capt. Scott Boulden, arrived and secured both vehicles. Ambulance 191 responded to the scene and staged. The box was placed under control and all units were cleared the scene by 2300 hours.
Head-On
February 1, 2009 -- Vehicle vs. Tree
Just before 1530 hours CVFC, along with Cecil County Paramedic 3, was alerted for an MVC on Bohemia Church Road. Rescue 1, under Capt. Scott Boulden, was the first to arrive and advised of a single vehicle vs tree. Ambulance 191 arrived and handled 1 patient refusal. The box was placed under control with CVFC units with all clearing the scene just after 1600 hours.
